The tax ids you may need for a non profit are a federal EIN ( required ) a state EIN ( required fon non profit employers ) and a sales tax id, sellers permit ( required for non profit sellers of taxable items such as when selling memorabilia, prepared food etc for the church or other non profit ).
STEP 1
First, you can obtain, file, register a non profit here online and get an ein to get going.
To do so, click on order button or get tax id and submit your business information. Then select corporation and then the type ( non profit ) from the drop down menu.
Note that depending on your type of non profit, we will file the appropriate certificate. For example, if you are a religious organization, we will file for a religious non profit. If you are a softball league, we will file for a non profit association.
With that been said, to qualify for tax free existence and qualify to accept donations and fundraising, you need form a nonprofit corporation and get a federal tax ID here online. You will only need sales tax id if you sell anything like merchandise. Sales tax are not exempt for a non profit.
STEP 2
A non profit is not taxed on profits but must collect sales tax and that requires a non profit to get a sellers permit.
Our fee to incorporate you and is $49 plus the state fee anywhere from $30 to $150 or more depending on your state. We will provide you with the filed articles of nonprofit organization and a federal tax ID.
STEP 3
After you register with us and you obtain the non profit and the ein, you will need to apply for state and federal exemption and then you will be able to accept donations and run your organization as a nonrpofit one.
